The Rainy Day Project

It's a hot and humid Memorial Day here in South Louisiana as I type my first post. I am missing the rain that we had a couple of days ago when I was able to kick back and relax with this...
A couple of months ago, I purchased all of the yarn colors in the Knit Picks Brava Sport line. I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time or if I was even thinking at all. I'm pretty sure that the crazed yarn junkie in me took over my fingers as they entered my credit card information and clicked submit. I mean... I really did have big plans for the fun and funky colors that this psycho maniac ordered so I shouldn't have felt too bad as they were going to become a colorful crochet granny square afghan, but I wasn't quite sure what to do with the left over neutrals that were ordered. They just didn't seem to fit in. Something had to be done with them because I already have closets and storage bins packed to the point of a borderline hoarder as it is. Seriously.

As the rain started falling, I looked outside at the gloomy colors in the sky and thought to myself that an afghan in just the neutral colors might not be that bad of an idea. So I played with the neutrals...ALL afternoon. Granny square after granny square using each neutral color in every square. I'm even considering sewing a few old buttons in the center of a few squares to add a little visual interest to the afghan. I'm very excited about this project, maybe even more than the bright colored afghan. I have decided to call this "The Rainy Day Project" and plan to work on it when it's raining or I'm just feeling gloomy. I will post pictures of my progress after I have taken the time to weave in the loose ends. Until next time...
